Here are over 50 of our favorite meatless meals; seafood & pasta dishes, vegetarian options & salads hearty enough for a meal. The best family size and single serving meatless recipes!
If you are looking for fabulous meatless meals to enjoy during the season of Lent or any time of the year, you’ve come to the right place. Here, we’ve rounded up over 50 of our favorite and most popular family size and single serving meatless meals.
Last Wednesday, Ash Wednesday marked the beginning of the Season of Lent. Lent is the 40-day period (excluding Sundays) that precedes Easter. In the Catholic faith, many Catholics abstain from meat on Ash Wednesday, Good Friday and on all Fridays during Lent. Growing up Catholic, giving up meat on Fridays was never a problem. Living in New Orleans, we had access to the most delicious seafood and we certainly enjoyed a lot of it during Lent.
When my family and I moved to Texas, we met several Catholic families at our church. We became especially close with four families and our children have pretty much grown up together. Our families joined together as our “Fish Friday” group, meeting on each of the Fridays in Lent and enjoy a meatless meal together. We rotate houses each week and each family brings a dish to share. It’s a great excuse to get together and catch up with what’s going on in each of our lives. Even though our group was called a Fish Friday group, we didn’t only eat fish on Fridays, as you can see, there are many non-seafood recipes we enjoy.
Since Lent is here, I’ve pulled together over 50 of my favorite seafood and vegetarian recipes that my family loves that would be appropriate for Fridays during Lent, or any day of the year.
