Homemade Peanut Butter Dog Treats
The best part of these homemade dog treats is that they’re so easy to make.
Just a few ingredients – whole wheat flour, oats, peanut butter, an egg, chicken broth, a banana, and nonfat dry milk.
These bone-shaped cookie cutters are so cute to use too! I love that they come in different sizes, perfect for the three sizes of my own dogs.

These homemade dog treats would make great gifts to give other dog lovers in your life.
They keep well in an airtight container in the refrigerator or at room temperature for up to 1 week.
Enjoy!
The ingredients in these dog treats are all approved by our veterinarian as being safe for dogs. If you have any questions or concerns, please consult with your veterinarian. If your dog has a wheat allergy, substitute all purpose flour for wheat flour in the recipe.
Homemade Dog Treats

Ingredients
- 2 1/2 cups whole wheat flour (Substitute all-purpose flour if your dog is allergic to wheat)
- 1/2 cup oats
- 1/2 cup nonfat dry milk
- 3/4 cup chicken broth
- 1 whole egg, lightly beaten
- 1/3 cup natural peanut butter
- 1 medium banana, mashed – about 1/4 cup
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Mix together the flour, oats and nonfat dry milk in a large bowl.
- Stir in the chicken broth, egg and peanut butter.
- Fold in the banana.
- Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface. If the dough is too sticky, add an additional 1/4 cup flour until the dough is easier to handle. Use your hands to work in the flour.
- Flatten the dough with a floured rolling pin to about 1/2-inch thickness.
- Cut with cookie cutters or cut into slices and place on parchment lined baking sheet.
- Bake for 15 minutes.
- Remove from oven and allow to cool before giving to your dog.

Can you tell me the oven temp please? I tried at 350 and 325. Are they suppose to be hard biscuits?
Hi Debra, I'm sorry for my delay in responding to your question. The oven temperature should be 350 degrees F. The treats are more on the soft side – however if you leave them in the oven a little longer, they will get harder. I take them out of the oven after 15 minutes of cooking time and are slightly soft.
Thank you. They did come out slightly soft. Second batch was a little harder. Baked them for 23 mins. My dog waited by the oven as they cooked. He loves them!
Thanks for the recipe. It's a keeper.
Such a sweet thing to do for our little treasures!
Great idea, these look fun to make!
Oh such a great treat for dog loves!! How fun.
Aww! What cute doggies! I love that you make them healthier treats. 🙂
Awesome! Our cute furry friends deserve great food, too!
My puppy would love these! And the differences in personalities is so funny to see.
I'll definitely have to try your recipe! I've made something similar before and my doggies really loved it!
Our three dogs would love these delicious looking treats! My daughter has a pet sitting business this would be a nice touch for her clients too.
Oh I can't wait to make these for Meg! Thanks for the recipe!
