If you’re traveling to Southern California, you may wish to consider staying at the lovely Kimpton Shorebreak Hotel in Huntington Beach, California.
When I travel to California, the beach is where I want to be. I’m drawn to the ocean and can’t think of any place that’s more relaxing to me.
The final stop on our California trip was Huntington Beach and we chose to stay at the Kimpton Shorebreak Hotel. I’ve stayed at a couple of Kimpton hotels in the past, the Hotel Van Zandt in Austin, Texas and the Hotel Monaco in Portland, Oregon. One thing I can always count on with a Kimpton is a great stay. I love how each Kimpton hotel is unique and each hotel has a personality all it’s own. They’re all a little bit different in the way they look but the wonderful amenities are all the same.
The Kimpton Shorebreak Hotel is directly across the street from the beach. We stayed in a beautiful room with a patio that provided us the opportunity to watch the sunset from our room and wake up to the sounds of the ocean.
The beds have pillow-top mattresses and were so comfortable. I had no trouble falling asleep at night.
My husband liked the desk in the corner of the room so he could get a little work done before he went to sleep. We both loved the great WiFi, which is free for Kimpton Karma Rewards members. There is no charge to join the rewards club and I highly recommend it.
Other in-room amenities included a large soaking tub and a separate shower stall, flatscreen TV’s, yoga mats and funky animal print robes.
Our kids didn’t travel with us this time but I’m sure they would have loved staying here. There was a fire pit in the outside terrace which was perfect for evening s’mores and a ping pong table in the center of the lobby.
The hotel restaurant is called Zimzala but since we were only there one night, we didn’t have the chance to dine there. We’ll have to put it on our list for our next visit.
There are many amenities that the Shorebreak offers to their guests…
- Beach chairs, towels, toys and umbrellas available for use
- A Surf Ambassador to guide your Surf City, USA experience
- Morning coffee and tea
- Beach cruisers available to explore the town
- Surfboard lockers, bike racks and golf club storage
- Free WiFi on all devices for Kimpton Karma Rewards members
- Complimentary evening social hour in the lobby
- Pet-friendly rooms
One day is just not enough time to spend in Huntington Beach. There’s so much to do and the beach is absolutely beautiful. Since we had a late afternoon flight home, my husband and I took a long walk along the beach in the morning and ended with a walk out on the pier.
The Shorebreak is in a great location. It’s not only steps from the beach and in the heart of downtown but it’s only 30 minutes away from Disneyland and John Wayne / Orange County Airport is only a 20 minute drive from the hotel.
I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the Kimpton Shorebreak Hotel to friends and family visiting the area. It’s in a wonderful location, affordably priced and comfortable. You can find out more about the Kimpton Shorebreak on their website.
Disclosure: The Kimpton Shorebreak Hotel provided me with a media rate for my stay so that I would be able to experience the hotel and share my experience with ZagLeft readers.
