Easy to make Valentine’s Chocolate Candies made with just 3 ingredients! A quick and easy dessert recipe everyone will love.
Whether you’ve been together with your sweetheart for 20 years or for 2 months, nothing says Happy Valentine’s Day quite like Valentine’s Chocolate Candies. These sweet and lovely little chocolate pieces will melt in your mouth and are surprisingly simple to make. No need to go out and purchase those over-priced candy filled hearts that look the same everywhere you go. A gift of homemade chocolate candies is truly a gift from the heart.
All you need to start out is a package of semi-sweet or dark chocolate chips. Decide on what you’d like to add into the melted chocolate. I added raisins and chopped pecans to mine but you can add any dried fruit or nuts you’d like.
To begin, place the chocolate chips into a large bowl. Put about an inch of water into a large pot and bring the water to a boil. Reduce the water to a simmer and place the bowl of chocolate chips on top of the pot. Make sure the water doesn’t touch the bowl. Stir the chocolate chips until completely melted.
Turn off the stove and remove the bowl of melted chocolate from the pot. Place the bowl on the counter to cool completely. After the chocolate has cooled, you’ll want to temper the chocolate. Tempering the chocolate is a very easy process in which you bring the cooled chocolate back to a heated point. This prevents the chocolate from getting a white discoloration to it. After you’ve tempered the chocolate, remove the bowl from on top of the pot and allow the chocolate to cool again.
After the chocolate has cooled a second time, stir in your nuts, raisins or any other dried fruit or nuts you’d prefer.
Place a teaspoon of the chocolate into small “mini” muffin tins.
Cool in the refrigerator for a few minutes. It won’t take very long to cool.
Let the candies sit for a minute after removing them from the refrigerator and pop them out of the tins.
I found a package of pretty red mini muffin liners that I used to place the candies in.
