There’s been a lot of buzz on the internet about One Ingredient Banana Ice Cream. Yes, it has only one ingredient…bananas! I know, crazy right? The moment I read about this frozen wonder, I knew I had to try it. I love ice cream, but I am lactose intolerant and don’t get to enjoy it. So here’s a low sugar, completely healthy, milk free dessert that everyone in my family can enjoy.
It’s totally easy to make too. All you need are bananas, a food processor and I added a dollop of honey, which you really don’t need to do at all. I just wanted a sweeter flavor.
First, slice your bananas. I used 5 bananas and it produced about 3 1/3 cups of ice cream. Slice them in small chunks and place them on a baking tray. Freeze the banana slices for 1-2 hours.
Place the frozen banana slices into the food processor and begin.
First, you ‘ll notice the bananas become crumbly.
Scrape down the bowl and continue processing. You’ll notice the bananas becoming smoother.
Smoother…
Keep scraping down the bowl…
Perfect…
Grab a spoon and taste it. If you want it a little sweeter, add a teaspoon of honey.
The end result is a soft-serve type of banana ice cream.
If you like a more frozen consistency, place the banana ice cream into an air-tight container and put it in the freezer. It’ll become harder and more like ice cream.
Enjoy this fantastic one ingredient banana ice cream by itself or add your favorite mix-ins. How about sliced strawberries, no-bake chocolate chip cookie dough, peanut butter…get the idea? The ideas are endless.
