Last December I had the pleasure of visiting Dublin, Ireland where I stayed at the incredible Dublin castle, Clontarf Castle. My husband and I were in London attending a conference and decided to hop on a plane and take the quick flight to Dublin for a long weekend.

Our last trip to Dublin was about 8 years ago and our time there was limited to only about two days. When my husband and I realized we would have the opportunity to visit again, we were thrilled.

The Clontarf Castle Hotel

We stayed at the beautiful Clontarf Castle Hotel and loved it. The hotel is a 10 minute drive from downtown Dublin. Clontarf Castle is located in the coastal town of Clontarf. The castle hotel is ranked #8 Condé Nast Readers’ Choice Top 10 Hotels In Ireland. This unique 12th Century castle hotel offers the perfect blend of Irish history and tradition with all of the luxuries of the 21st century.

Every morning, we walked to the bus stop which was just about 5 minutes away. The bus took us into the downtown Dublin. When we returned back to the hotel at the end of the day, we took a taxi or an Uber.

Our room was beautiful and so comfortable. It felt like a storybook bedroom from a fairy tale. Royal colors, elegant yet relaxing.

We visited Clontarf Castle in early December and the hotel was beautifully decorated for Christmas. Clontarf Castle is a lively castle. Most castles we have visited have been more sedate.

Clontarf Castle was bustling with activity every day of our stay. The hotel was packed with local folks attending various Christmas parties. The pub inside the hotel was always filled with locals as well as visitors and the evening carolers gave us something very special to look forward to at the end of our day.

We enjoyed the Gastropub dining in the Knights Bar and ate there three times during our stay. The food was incredible!

If you find yourself in Dublin, I highly recommend Clontarf Castle Hotel. It exceeded our expectations and I look forward to returning sometime soon.
