Ingredients

packaged puff pastry

Granny Smith Apples
, peeled, cored and sliced into 1/4- inch pieces

Bartlett Pears
, peeled, cored and sliced into 1/4- inch pieces

tablespoon
butter

brown sugar
1/4
teaspoon
cinnamon
1
egg
, lightly beaten
1/2
teaspoon
granulated sugar
Whipped cream
(optional)
Caramel
(optional)
Instructions
Heat oven to 375 degrees F.
Thaw the puff pastry at room temperature for 20 minutes.
Unfold the pastry sheet on a lightly oiled baking sheet.
Melt the butter in a skillet over a medium heat.
Add the apples and pears to the skillet.
Sprinkle with 3 tablespoons brown sugar. Saute for 8 minutes or until the apples and pears are beginning to soften.
Add the cinnamon and saute for 30 seconds more.
Remove from the heat. Spoon apple and pear mixture over the center of the puff pastry leaving 1-inch around the edges.
Fold the edges of the puff pastry in.
Brush the egg over the folded edges of the puff pastry.
Sprinkle the sugar over the edges of the puff pastry.
Bake for 20-25 minutes or until edges are golden.
Serve with whipped cream and caramel if desired.
