The New Curbside Service at Kingwood’s H-E-B

Texas grocery chain, H-E-B has recently launched a new way to grocery shop. I’m sharing my experience with the new Curbside Service at Kingwood’s H-E-B.

Life gets busy and if you’re like me, you wish you had more hours in the day to get the necessary things done.  One of those very necessary tasks is grocery shopping and with Texas based H-E-B’s new Curbside Service, grocery shopping gets even easier.

As the mother of five children, I have many memories of mornings spent walking the aisles of our local grocery store with all of my children in tow.  It was never an easy task and no matter how many “rewards” I would promise for good behavior, my kids got restless and bored. Shopping with very small children was never easy. Most days I would leave the store with only a few of the items on my grocery list and we would all be completely exhausted.

I can remember wishing there was some kind of service where I could place my grocery order online, in the comfort of my own home, and be able to pick up the groceries at a convenient time for me. Back then, that was only wishful thinking.

But not anymore…

H-E-B Curbside Service

Texas grocery chain, H-E-B has recently launched their new Curbside Service in many of their Texas stores. Fortunately, my local Kingwood H-E-B offers the service and even though my kids are mostly grown and don’t mind grocery shopping, I love the convenience.

Recently H-E-B approached me to review the new Curbside Service and I told them I would be happy to do so.  In fact, I’ve been using the Curbside Service since it first started in Kingwood and it’s been great.

How To Use H-E-B’s Curbside Service

The process is so simple.  First, you log into to find the H-E-B Stores that offer Curbside service near you.  In fact, there are 21 H-E-B stores that offer the Curbside service.

Click the “Shop Now” button to explore the many ways to shop.  You can browse through the weekly circular to see which items are on sale, search for recipes, shop by aisle and if you’ve used the Curbside service in the past, you can even see which products you previously purchased and purchase them again.

Next, you start filling your “cart” with the items you want to purchase. If you know exactly what you want, simply type it into the search bar located at the top of the page.

After you’ve selected the items you wish to purchase and are ready to check out, you have the opportunity to review your order. If a product is not available, you have the option to request a substitution.  From my own experience, I’ll get a text message from my Kingwood Curbside associate if a product I order isn’t available. They let me know what item could be substituted and I have the option of either allowing the substitution or removing the item from my grocery list.

Next, select a pickup time that’s convenient for you.

You will be shown the total cost for your order and have the opportunity to enter a credit card number to pay for your order.

The process couldn’t be simpler. A recent feature for the Kingwood location is the ability to edit your order after you’ve placed it.  A few times, I’ve placed my order and remembered that I had forgotten to add an item or two to my order. Now you can call the store and ask for those items to be added to your order.

When it’s time to pick up your groceries, follow the Curbside signs at your H-E-B store which will direct you to the Curbside pick-up area.

Pull into a parking spot and type in the number code into your cell phone…

A Curbside attendant will come to your car to confirm your order, then will bring out your groceries and place them in your car for you.

My daughter loves to come with me because the attendants always give out delicious H-E-B treats to enjoy while we wait for our order.

You’ll love the fact that you don’t even have to get out of your car.  The groceries are carefully loaded into the car for you.

Finally, a signature is required to show that you’ve received your order and are happy with any substitutions that may have been made.

H-E-B Curbside Convenience

Even though I don’t have small children anymore and grocery shopping isn’t as difficult as it was years ago, I work from home now and don’t want to spend the hour or so shopping for groceries.  The H-E-B Curbside service is such a convenience for me.  I can swing by our Kingwood store at the end of my work day or when I’m out running errands.  The pick-up process takes minutes and couldn’t be easier.

If you’re in Kingwood or if you have an H-E-B store near you that offers Curbside Service, I would urge you to give it a try. H-E-B Curbside is currently available at select stores in Austin, Burleson, Granbury, the Houston area, New Braunfels, San Antonio and Corpus Christi. New stores are being added so be sure to check the list of locations available.

I think you’ll love the convenience as much as I do.  If you’ve used the Curbside service in the past let me know, I would love to hear your thoughts.

  1. I have friends who tried the service that have said it really does save time. So I guess that’s that! I would want to try it to see for myself how good of a service it is. Thanks for sharing this though, I understand how it works better now.

  2. I’ve never seen an H-E-B in California but whenever I visit my sister in Austin I always like to stop in and see what goodies they have. On a busy day it would be awesome to have Curbside Service! 🙂
