Yesterday, I was on a local TV morning show in Houston. I was so honored to be invited to do a cooking demonstration at the local Fox 26 Television Station.
I was originally invited to discuss and demo easy recipes for college students but we – Sally MacDonald, the host of FOX26 Weekend News and I realized that the date I was scheduled to come on the program was also Mother’s Day. So, we switched gears and decided to talk about, Quick Weeknight Meals.
If you tuned it to watch the segment, thank you so much!
Here I am unloading my cooking supplies and ingredients. I was so afraid of forgettting something I might need so I brought just about everything I owned! What you can’t tell is that I’ve got a large ice chest and two other bags on the floor in addition to the one in the picture.
Setting up my work area was fun. I plated the food I brought along with me and heated up a quick sauce. Can you tell how nervous I was? I had about five dishes to prepare. My biggest fear was that I would completely forget the names of the dishes and the ingredients in each of them.
My husband, son and daughter came to the studio with me. They were such troopers, waking up at 4:30 in the morning to drive to the studio with me – and they didn’t even complain! My kids thought it was so exciting to see a televison studio. I was so happy they were there for moral support as well as to help me get my things together for the segment.
When my segment was about to go live, the nerves disappeared. Sally was so warm and friendly. She totally put me at ease and I felt like I was talking to my best friend. The camera man, the producer and everyone else also made me feel so relaxed.
This was one of the most exciting experiences of my life! I love to create recipes and to cook and to be able to share what I love to do is a dream! I had such a great time and was honored and thrilled to be invited to come back again.
After the segment was over, we packed all of our equipment up and left the FOX Studio. My family decided to take me out for breakfast at one of my favorite Houston restaurants, Adair Kitchen. Although I love their lunches, I’d never been to Adair Kitchen for breakfast. It was absolutely delicious, I can’t wait to go back again! There were so many wonderful breakfast items to choose from. I got the Balsamic Eggs and they were amazing! I also loved their Almond Milk Latte and had to indulge in a celebratory Mimosa as well.
