On October 1, 1982 Disney’s second theme park opened it’s gates to the public. EPCOT, an acronym for Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow is twice the size of the Magic Kingdom. It also happens to be my favorite park of all.
EPCOT is often considered an “adult park”, but it’s always been a favorite of my kids as well. From the “big golf ball” known as Spaceship Earth to Soarin’ to the amazing Test Track, there are rides and attractions for every age.
After touring the area known as Future World, it’s wonderful to walk around the countries. We usually begin in Mexico and travel to each of the countries until we end in Canada.
EPCOT isn’t only a themepark. It’s a destination for shopping, entertainment and fine dining as well. We always love to stop in Mexico to visit La Cava del Tequila for one of their fantastic margaritas and in Italy, we visit Tutto Gusto for an antipasto plate and wonderful glass of Italian wine.
We’ve traveled to EPCOT many times and each time we visit, there’s always something new and exciting to see. There are four main festivals in Epcot held throughout the year and each one brings a special element to the park.
* International Flower and Garden Show – March 6, 2013-May 19, 2013
* Sounds Like Summer Concert Series – a talented collection of tribute bands who recreate classic hits from legendary performers. Running through the summer months.
* EPCOT International Food and Wine Festival – September 28, 2012-November 12, 2012
* Holidays Around The World – November 23-December 30. This event retells the story of Christmas with a celebrity narrator, an orchestra and a choir… simply beautiful!
